SUMMARY:Sunday Tea with Mozart
DESCRIPTION:THEATRE OF THE NO\, Athens’ first English theatre\, proudly presents  for only 8 shows «Sunday Tea with Mozart» an exhilarating opera recital\, featuring spellbinding highlights from two of Mozart’s most famous operas\, Le Nozze di Figaro and Don Giovanni. Premiering on October 13th\, the show  will run every Sunday until 1st of December. \nABOUT THE OPERAS \nBoth Le Nozze di Figaro and Don Giovanni sparked controversy and upset social order when they first premiered. Le Nozze di Figaro\, based on Beaumarchais’ politically charged play\, was banned for its “immorality” and “revolutionary tone” by Emperor Joseph II. However\, thanks to the wit of librettist Lorenzo da Ponte and Mozart’s stirring compositions\, the emperor was eventually swayed\, lifting the ban and allowing Mozart’s music to take center stage.
